Congratulations – reaching this point means you have already completed the Foundation Step and some of you will have explored other steps along the way. Whether you were directly involved in the Foundation Step or you’re picking up the baton from someone else, you’re in exactly the right place to continue your quality improvement journey.

We ask you to start by watching this animation. You might recognise the voice of Jill – one of the Families First Directors – who will provide a brief overview of what the Families First Quality Improvement Commitment is and how the Development Step works.

A framework that works for everyone

The wraparound sector is wonderfully diverse — from Mrs Smith running a small club in a village hall, to large multi‑site organisations operating across several areas. Because of this breadth, we designed a scheme that allows settings to choose their own pathway through quality improvement. However, we ask everyone to begin in the same place: the Foundation Step. Now that you’ve completed this you are ready to move onto the Development Step.
