Module 5: Partnership working and information sharing

Partnership working
So you are getting towards the end of the course and have hopefully picked up lots of new ideas already. The good news is that you are not alone in this work. Being inclusive for all children is about working in partnership.
In this module we are going to think about:
- What information we need to effectively plan for inclusion
- Gaining an understanding of the needs of different families and how to work in partnership with parents and carers
- Considering mechanisms for gaining and sharing information from partners and within your team
Effective partnership working involves clear communication and collaboration with parents, carers, and other professionals. It’s essential to gather all the information that you might need about the child’s needs and preferences and to share relevant information within your team to ensure consistent support across and between the sessions that you offer.
Many parents and carers, especially of children and young people with disabilities may have lots of anxiety about their loved one being looked after by someone who does not know them so well. Effective communication with parents and carers is crucial, especially when dealing with heightened anxiety.
