Open meetings

We run regular open meetings for all local authorities. The next one is:

Inclusion in the wraparound sector

Thursday 4th June 2026
10:00am – 11:30am

No registration is needed – just use the Teams joining link a couple of minutes before the meeting starts:

Our focus on the 4th will be on thinking big in terms of who the WA sector is and could be, and how you join the dots. We know the DfE are keen at last to join the dots between HAF and Out of School Childcare, and we at Families First have been working with the sector in its widest sense for some time (i.e. all the out of school activities that our families may be piecing together to make a childcare solution).

This session is open to all local authorities with an interest in inclusion within the wraparound sector. It will provide an opportunity to share challenges, explore solutions, and learn from one another to support a more inclusive approach across the sector.

As with previous sessions, we will begin with a short introduction to Families First as a Community Interest Company, along with an overview of our work and key developments in supporting inclusive practice. We will then open up the discussion and welcome your insights, reflections, and experiences.

In this session we will consider and facilitate sharing around:

  • Who is and who could be the sector?
  • What have we done to measure sufficiency for this wider group, including for children with SEND?
  • Market management strategies and engaging a new and/or forgotten sector
  • Making the most of the conduit Family Hubs could be.

We look forward to seeing you there. As usual, you don’t need to come armed with anything except your experiences and ideas to share!

We offer these free sessions to ALL LAs as part of our “give back” as a community interest company. If you are not a current local authority partner these meetings are a chance for you to meet our team and hear the learning from our partners so far.
