Your Role
One definition of an inclusive practitioner is that ‘they lead by example, modelling commitment to include all children and young people.

Sometimes in the busyness of day to day practice it can be hard to focus on this!
You will have become involved in wraparound provision for a range of reasons. Sometimes, as time goes by, we forget what these reasons are, or other things become more important to us.
Take some time to look at the following statements and think about the priority that you would give them. (Everybody will have their own different reasons for getting involved and whichever order you choose is right for you!)
- I love working with children and young people
- I have children of my own and want to see more wraparound provision available for them
- The hours suit me and my family circumstances
- I am filling in time while I am looking for a more permanent job
- I wanted to be a teacher or youth worker and this seems like the next best thing
- I have always done this kind of work and I absolutely love it
What priority would you give to each? You may have other priorities but hopefully this activity will help you to reflect…
